In the field of sports development, our teaching focuses on grassroots sports development and offers you in-depth, research-based, and hands-on knowledge. At the same time, we will teach you skills and expertise that enables you to work in sports organisations at a regional, national, and international level. In addition, we will work with you on developing your personal and social skills.
The classes of the programme will be delivered in a blended-learning format. During the four semesters, students learn mostly in a virtual learning environment, i.e., synchronous sessions on Zoom (in CET timezone) and supplementing learning material for self-studying. Our team of international lecturers will supervise this learning environment. In addition, we will meet for three short-term in-person periods of up to two weeks each. These sessions will usually take place in Leipzig, Germany at the Faculty of Sport Science at Leipzig University.
The standard period of study is four semesters. By completing the MA programme in International Sports Development you will earn the degree Master of Arts with a worth of 120 credit points (ECTS). At German universities, 1 ECTS converts to 30 study hours. Of the 120 ECTS, a total of 30 ECTS are allotted to completing your master's thesis and the supporting seminar or colloquium during the 4th semester.
You can study the programme at a reduced workload, i.e. 50%. This will increase the overall length of your studies, i.e. eight semesters instead of four. Please find out more here.
For studying the MA programme in Internationals Sports Development you are required to pay a tuition fee of €1,800 per semester. In addition, every student is required to pay the university's standard semester fee (around €250). Please find out more here.
Completing the MA programme in International Sports Development will enable you to embark on an exciting career path with numerous career possibilities in the profession of sports management. As a graduate you will have access to positions in grassroots sports development and you will be qualified to apply your expertise in sports clubs and associations as well as in governmental, intergovernmental, non-governmental, and private organisations.
